Southern Roots

My name is Tonya, and I am an historical archaeologist by training with passions for genealogical research and historic preservation. My research focuses on the Southeastern United States, and my areas of expertise include early Alabama statehood, Southeastern Native American history (especially Cherokee and Chickasaw), European/American settlement in the Southeast, and archaeological research. I have worked with clients of diverse backgrounds including European, Native American, and African American ancestry. I have also worked with the TLC television series Who Do You Think You Are?
